Training Opportunities |
|
Each session will be devoted to the athlete’s personalized training and development of field hockey goalie skills. Athletes receive training on crucial skills and undergo intensive supervision to continuously enhance, implement and develop those skills. Small group size guarantees that your training needs will be addressed. To maximize benefits for all participants, athletes who sign up together should be of similar performance levels and experience. Fees range from $95-150 per hour depending on the venue and number of athletes per session. Current training venues include Jeff Manto’s Big Leagues Baseball and Softball Academy (Newtown, PA) and other locations. Steve offers many assessment and training programs, any of which can be customized to suit your needs. |

In the USA and the rest of the world, it is expected that a field hockey player will know and use specific skills. This 3-hour clinic, appropriate for players at all levels, provides training in goalkeeping and shooter skills and techniques essential for success in collegiate and international play. Organization and communication among players will be emphasized. To ensure a quality experience for all participants, the clinic will be limited to 20 goalies and 35 field players, at the high school level. You can choose the April or May dates...or attend more than one clinic for extra learning and practice.

Sunday, March 16, 2008 1-3:30 PM This clinic is designed to give the field hockey goalkeeper all the technical skills needed for advanced play. If you’re looking to play well in high school or are setting your sights for college or even international play, this clinic will give you what you need. The clinic is limited to 12 participants so each keeper will receive the attention necessary to help guide her to success. Tuition: $105 per goalie. Thursdays in March 2008, 6-8PM The Field Hockey School teaches the most current techniques and approaches in field hockey for both field players and goalies. If you like to score goals, this is the school for you! Shawn Hindy, an experienced US national team member will share his knowledge about the best approach for scoring goals. And, if you’re a goalie, come learn international strategies for the successful goalkeeper! Steve Wagner is a 1996 USA Olympic goalkeeper and an experienced Division I goalkeeper coach. A unique feature of the school is that players learn about the opponent’s perspective. Field players will spend time with Steve learning the goalie’s perspective, and goalies will spend time with Shawn learning the opposition’s approach. From these opposing perspectives, players will gain a better understanding of opposition strategies which will help them make smarter decisions for either goal scoring or goalkeeping. Tuition: $360 per athlete for the course, with a limit of 8 goalies and 8 field players. The classes are designed to be small so we can give each athlete an individualized and quality experience.
